Is it more holy to be less than human?

By Reginald Martin

There is one aspect of religious thought that has always baffled me. That aspect is the thought process of sin which leads to denying the flesh. Religion seems to be unaware of the concept of the soul incarnating to experience being human. Many aspects of being human that are joyful and exhilarating are looked upon as experiences that should be shunned by the religious. This negative thought process regarding the experiences of being human is not one that could possibly be intended when we incarnated on earth. This is another area that religion has missed the mark on when it comes to its believers and followers. To live free of sin according to the religious will ensure the salvation of the soul. This religious thought process is again limiting the true nature of our being. As a soul in human form we live a multidimensional existence. Our salvation is not dependent on one aspect of our multidimensional self.

Erroneous thought
First of all the concept of salvation is one that is born out of an erroneous and self-centered concept of our being. Religion believes that this physical body is all there is to our existence. We can have an eternal soul that can be judged on the basis of one 70 year life span. How ludicrous is that? Our consciousness can exist for billions of years and we can go to hell based on one infinitesimal span of physical life? On top of that I have to deny a major part of my human existence to be closer or more like God? I think whoever came up with that concept needs to have their religion license revoked! Can somebody get me the phone number to the religion review board? I want to lodge a complaint! I would dare say that religion will acknowledge the existence of the soul but has no idea what the soul is.

I would like to let the religious know that a soul is who we are. It is not what we possess. Our physical existence rides on a foundation of existence that is pure energy. Energy can never be destroyed or lost. Energy can change form. This energy which forms our soul and everything in the universe is forever abundant. As a soul we have the ability to create from this energy anything we wish that will aid in its development. Our physical bodies are but one manifestation of this energy. The soul is in a constant state of learning. For the religious, there is no sterile non engaged place called heaven. That concept goes against the very nature of a soul that is created to experience and learn. For the religious, there is no hell.

The road less traveled

The road less traveled

A concept as punitive as this can only be conceived by a limited and diabolical mind that has a need to keep fear and control a part of human existence and experience. God is not a big human watching over us to punish for sins conceived by man. Yes, there are universal laws that we have to adhere to, but they are for development and learning not retribution and punishment. The religious must understand that the spiritual principles they were founded on has been manipulated purposefully. As a soul in human form we are a beautiful creation. That is what we are.

You are a soul
As a soul YOU WILL LIVE FOREVER. Your physical body will die. Your consciousness will go on. Kind of like the energizer bunny. You can not lose your soul. No one has to save your soul, it is indestructible! The personality that you know is you the soul.

You will be forever connected to and a part of that which so many have called God. Because you are a part of and connected to this powerful source you have an infinite power. You limit that power when you fearfully believe that God is outside of you. You limit your power when you deny your humanity in the name of God. You limit your power when you deny yourself the opportunity to experience being all that is human. You limit your power when you believe that being human means that you are prone to being sinful and evil. Even in the face of so many that are beacons of love and light. Religion offers an attitude of separation and destruction. It offers an attitude of guilt and shame for being perfectly human.

This was not the original intentions of the teachings of so many of the great masters. They did not teach that we should belong to the large organizations that now are such a major part of religion today. The great teachers taught a message of spirituality. A message that said you can only feel the awesome power of ALL THAT IS through your own unique perspective and experience. That experience did not need the validation of the masses.

Spirituality vs. Religion

Religion is buying into ritual and dogma that must be accepted by others in order to accept you.
Religion expects you to deny parts of you that are uniquely human.
Religion says, don’t do this.
Religion allows you to hate in the name of God.
Religion says you must have faith in God.

Spirituality is personal.
Spirituality is knowing that experience is one of the major reasons you incarnated on this plane of existence.
Spirituality empowers you to do all.
Spirituality is acknowledging that we are all a part of the same creation.
Spirituality embraces all of your being.
Spirituality allows you to directly experience ALL THAT IS. With that experience you then know and understand your place in the universe.

You do not have to deny your humanity to be more holy. When you embrace all that you are it is a wonderful experience. Sin is not a part of the spiritual equation. Retribution and fear has been a part of religion for centuries. It is easy to believe in those modes of thought when you don’t experience directly the oneness of creation. When all you have is faith it is hoping for future confirmation. The laws of the universe will not manifest anything that is hoped for. We must all be strong enough to validate our personal experience with ALL THAT IS. Ignorance is not bliss. To deny who we are has been a prescription for destruction. We must all be brave enough to acknowledge all of our being. We are souls having a human experience.

Are you a brave soul?

Reginald, the difference between religion and spirituality is so well explained here! I believe that allowing our human nature to express itself, rather than repressing it, is what truly honors the creation of God/All That Is. We are here to experience the full glory of creation, not to mortify it. As long as God is seen as a separate, rather revengeful entity, we trade our spiritual freedom for manipulation. Luckily, the Soul is eternal, and there will be other opportunities to learn from that limiting experience… though it would be great if more people woke up during this lifetime.

I love it when you say that we are judged for eternity, based solely on a 70 year span (that’s proportionally not even the blink of an eye, it’s ridiculously nothing). It should be made into posters and splattered all over town! :-)

Palma, Repression and manipulation is such a religious concept. We should enjoy the physical for our time here. We learn from the ups and downs of life. the lessons are eternal. When you think of judging this life in the terms of billions of years it just does not add up. I will get the poster boards if you will bring the markers. :)
