Why are we here on earth?

By

At some point in our lives we all start to ask the hard questions. It’s usually after a situation that occurs and alters our perspective. We start to ask questions like, why am I here? Why am I going through this? Why did this happen to me? What did I do to deserve this? They are usually very difficult to answer. Some of us spend a lifetime trying to answer these questions. Often times we go through bouts of anger, sadness, depression, joy and any number of feelings and emotions in-between. Everyone goes through it, some early in life and a some late in life and still others In mid life. There is no set time that anyone starts to deal with these questions at some point in life.

I believe that how we view ourselves in the whole scheme of things determines how we deal with those questions. What I mean by “view” is do you see yourself as the victim or do you see yourself as empowered and one that has some semblance of control in their lives. An analogy I once heard a pastor give has always stuck with me on how people view themselves. The analogy is of a thermostat and a thermometer. The thermometer is affected by the environment surrounding it. When the temperature goes up the thermometer rises to register the temperature. The environment controls the thermometer. A thermostat on the other hand controls the environment. When the temperature goes up the thermostat kicks in and lowers the temperature. The thermostat regulates the environment. Psychologists call it an external locus of control (thermometer) and an internal locus of control (thermostat). A victim feels the environment is the cause ofbearlake2 their circumstances. In most cases for the victim mentality someone or something outside of them is the cause. A person that is empowered feels they regulate what occurs in there life. They will take responsibility for what occurs in their life. Truthfully we all can fit the description as victim or empowered in different situations. However, we do have a consistent way that we view life and how we fit in the world.

This brings up back to the original questions. I believe that many of us feel victimized when we are searching for those answers. In this time of searching we feel that we are lost and without purpose or direction. It is so easy to believe that we have no say in what is going on in our lives. It is usually at this time that we start to think and hope that there is a larger scheme that we fit and that there is something or someone that is bigger than ourselves. That something or someone is usually our concept of God. So many look to the concept of an omnipotent being that will intercede on our behalf because we are worthy is some sort of way. We hope that this omnipotent being will smite our enemies and restore our world to its rightful place. But, is this still limiting our power to affect our own lives? Does this thought process of the omnipotent being taking over our life for us and doing our bidding eventually make us weaker mentally and spiritually? Do you find your purpose when you give it over to the omnipotent being? Ultimately being a victim with the thoughts of no control and the hope that something or someone will take over makes us weaker. This thought process is the fallacy that religion has brought to us.

The truth is this. Our universe operates within laws that control energy. From a wave function to a particle to a planet to a star, the laws all work the same. The laws work the same whether we are in human form or our energy form of a soul. Truth is truth no matter the form or place you are. So many man made laws and concepts of sin are not truth. They only work on this plane of existence and because we set that outcomes in motion with our thoughts. Essentially one of the prime laws is set against us when we use guilt and fear to control. That prime law again is Thought Is Cause. It is a truth that works on any level of existence. The concept of a sin does not work in the soul world. How much sense does it make to incarnate in human form for the experience of being human and then get punished for human faults? Only man can think up a contradiction such as that.

So yes, we do have a purpose for incarnating on this planet. As souls we choose to come. Make no mistake about it; earth is an extremely difficult environment for a soul. Only the heartiest of souls even come to earth. We do have choices to make about out lives on earth. Many of those choices are made before we incarnate. Sounds out of this world? Well yes, it is out of this world. You do have a definite purpose of being here. You are even guided to that purpose. You are often times guided by the events that sometimes force you to make life changing decisions.

We do have a great deal of power to construct our life. The idea is to be able to be grateful at any moment for who we are and what we have. That does not mean we have to be content with being stagnant. Just be able to appreciate life. Sometimes that is a monumental challenge. As a soul in human form we have to be able to remember who we are. Coming to earth is scary for souls. We can forget who we are on earth and be lost for a lifetime. We will get other chances but the lost time is wasted if the purpose is not achieved or lessons learned. We will explore this avenue of the soul its purpose and its power more. Are you open to the possibilities of empowerment? Can you consider the choices you have and may have made in the soul world? Stick with me and we will explore.

Are you a brave soul?

  1. Reginaldc, as a thermostat, I couldn’t agree more… I love the analogy, btw!

You explain these concepts in such a powerful way. An essential step in even trying to remember our soul purpose, is to acknowledge that we have the power and responsibility for what happens to us, in our own hands.

Palma, thank for the complement on my explanations. So often when I write I know it is coming from another place. sometimes I can reread one of my post and say to myself, wow! did I write that? I heard that sermon years ago in church. but that analogy has always stuck with me. It is powerful! But then so are we.

  2. I know exactly what you mean! It’s your Higher Self, channeling information from Universal Consciousness. Such a blissful feeling! :-)
