The Truth about the Universal Laws and religious dogma, laws four thru seven exposed and explained Pt. 2

By Reginald Martin

As stated in a my previous article on the universal laws they were first taught by an Egyptian master Hermes Trismegistus. His teaching precedes and is the basis of all religious thought and doctrine. Unfortunately man through misunderstandings and ego has added much to the laws that are not beneficial on the universal aspect of our existence. Here I will explain the remaining universal laws.

The fourth principle is the Law of Polarity. We have heard this called duality also. The law of Polarity says that everything is dual and everything has poles or opposites. An example is hot and cold. They are looked on as different. In reality they are the two extremes of the same thing. Where does cold start and hot end on the physical plane? How about love and hate on the mental plane? What about light and dark on the energy plane? They are all examples of extremes on different planes. Understanding polarity can be powerful when you want to keep your vibration up at a high level. On a Mental level happy and sad are two extremes. Sad is a lower vibration than happy on the mental level. When you can learn to change or set your polarity at a higher level you can become a conscious creator of your world.

The fifth principle is the Law of Rhythm. An analogy of this Law is that of a pendulum. Everything has a rhythm, a motion back and forth. If that motion swings wild one way it will eventually swing back just as far in the opposite direction. We can use emotions as an example. Successful people learn to throne1control the emotional swings. There may be days that they do not “feel” like doing something but they do it anyway. They are consistent. They control their emotional rhythm. You could also say then control the polarity at which they sit.

The sixth principle is the Law of Cause and Effect. It states that every cause has an effect and every effect has a cause. I have already gone over this in detail in other articles so I will not do so here.

Here is a biblical scripture teaching the laws of cause and effect and rhythm:

Luke 6:37 & 38 states Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. Give and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

In other words if you judge (cause) you will be judged (effect). The measure you use (the pendulum swinging one way), it will be measured to you (the pendulum swinging back with the same force).

The seventh and final principle is the Law of Gender. This law states that everything has its masculine and feminine counterparts and it manifests on all planes of existence. The masculine part is what seeks and the feminine part is the receptive. This is how the attraction part of the LOA works. It is them masculine and feminine parts finding each other. An example on a physical plane is of course male and female. On a energy plane it can be negative and positive. The law of vibration comes into play with this law also. There will always be a masculine and feminine counter part on any level. However, these counter parts must harmonize or vibrate in unison to stay together. I wrote more in depth about this law in the article, if science says opposites attract how can the law of attraction work? The law of Gender is definitely important in understanding how our universe works.

These are the seven laws of the universe according to Hermetic philosophy. The teaching of these laws preceded all religions. Understanding these laws at a deeper level is what the great teachers were attempting to teach us. These principles were the subject of many of the parables that Jesus taught. His figurative speech was built on explaining these principles. The 10 commandments in the bible were built on these 7 principles with the understanding that how we perform in the physical world will impact us in the spiritual world. Unfortunately religion became a tool for control rather than enlightenment. So many of the negative concepts of religion are to control us physically and mentally but have no validity outside of the physical realm. The idea of hell makes no sense when we consider multiple lives, simultaneous time and energy never being destroyed but can change states. We are energy as is every thing in the universe. The seven laws are really more about moving and manipulating energy than they are about matter.

The laws work with each other. There is no single event occurring that is the product of one law. in the my article titled, If the law of attraction is so great why do I keep getting in to bad relationships, I illustrated that the LOA is actually a composite of 2 laws. You can also include the principle of gender as you could with any event that occurs in the universe.

Learning and understanding the seven laws of the hermetic philosophy is a fantastic aid in developing your spirituality. You learn to understand that we exist on more than the physical plane and that learning how to use the laws now will aid us in the spirit world and beyond. Our consciousness is forever expanding and because it is eternal what we learn stays with us forever! Remember, you are a soul living a human experience. Go and explore your place in the universe.

Are you a brave soul?

I will now have to ponder as to why the Law of Polarity and the Law of Gender are two separate laws. I am creating neural pathways to grasp the subtle differences… :-)

When I think of the Law of Polarity, the first thing that comes to my mind is the concept of Yin and Yang. The two extremes at the opposite poles, being part of one. Like day and night, hot and cold, as you explain. But Yin is also the feminine, and Yang the masculine…

It’s interesting, because as the Laws work together, they seem to overlap into each other. For example the Law of Vibration and the Law of Rhythm. Vibration is rhythmic in nature already… wondering why there is a separate law stating that, that the first one is not doing.

This is all very interesting, Reginaldc, and makes one want to explore the Laws even more!

Palma thank you for asking questions. They are excellent questions. Have you ever explained something and in explaining it helps you understand the concept better? As an educator by trade, I always love it when my 8th grade students ask me questions, they force me to think of a concept in different ways. I have to get out of my head into theirs. thank you for the opportunity to get out of my head. For the law of polarity a good visual is to consider thermometer that is straight up and down. The thermometer has two opposite ends hot on one end cold on the bottom. With polarity one can move up and down the scale of temperature. where hot stops and cold begins is based on perception. Think of gender as a way things fit together. I like the yin and yang symbol because I can imagine it in a petri dish constantly in motion. The energy is never static in the dish. Gender is how the universe is drawn to its opposites, as in male and female, negative and positive. I think of polarity as in the dual nature of the universe. example good and evil, love and hate, hot and cold, pepsi and coke  ok bad example. They are all the same thing just as opposite ends of the poles. Picture Gender as masculine (probing) and feminine(receptive). The probe is attracted to that which can receive it. An electron seeks a proton, a male seeks a female. when new atoms are formed an element is created. When male and female come together a child can be created.

vibrations is harmony. Music can sound great when it is in harmony. rhythm is movement, back and forth, up and down. picture a recking ball as rhythm, in order for the ball to knock down a wall it has to build momentum. Each swing of the ball back and forth produces a wider arc and more momentum. it will swing just as far to the left as it will to the right. Emotions can swing from happy to sad. A saying that illustrates rhythm is, “how can you enjoy the peaks if you have never been in the valley”?
I hope this can clear up the subtle differences. If not please ask more. It is really helpful.

“Have you ever explained something and in explaining it helps you understand the concept better?” – Yes, every time! There were times when a question was asked, with a perspective that I didn’t think of before, and I literally “channeled” the answer in front of the class. :-)

So, if I understand correctly what you are saying:
Law of Polarity – opposite (dual) aspects of the same thing
Law of Gender – opposites (not necessarily of the same thing) attract

I am wondering if, just like LOA is a composite of several laws, the principle of Yin and Yang is a composite of the two. Because they turn into each other, being aspects of the same thing. But they can also be attracted to each other, while they are in the opposite state. I will have to look more into this.

Right, vibration is harmony, and that is interesting, because I was doing research on a post about sound… The Law of Rhythm is then about the eternal movement, the constant motion. What I am still trying to grasp is that in order for something to vibrate, it has to move (up and down, back and forth), even if at the smallest possible, unnoticeable scale…

Oh, wait, it’s about the cycles, the tides, that kind of movement. Everything is cyclical in nature, what arises will come to pass and arise again. Rhythm in that sense, right?

What I am trying to do, is to assign the Laws to the ones I have learned under different names and explanations, to make the picture clearer in my mind. I am very intrigued by the Kybalion! :-)

hey Palma, “I am wondering if, just like LOA is a composite of several laws, the principle of Yin and Yang is a composite of the two.”
I think of polarity as like two sides of t he same thing, dual sides or duality, like a coin. Gender is two different things coming together to create something else. yin and yang is two different types of energy, polarity is the same energy. If hot and cold come together you get warm. simply a different temperature on the scale. bring the yin of and electron together with the yang of a proton and you create a whole new state of matter, an element.

You hit rythym right on the head. I like your explanation.

You can find the kybalion online at http://www.kybalion.org. it is the kybalion word for word.
