Jesus Did Not Heal the Sick
ByThere have been many miracles ascribed to Jesus in the bible. When reading about some of the miracle healings I realized something. Jesus never healed any of the people that so many say that he healed. It seemed to me to be another case of people wanting to make the bible about the man rather than what he was teaching. Here is what I mean.
In John 14:12 Jesus says “…anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the father.”
In this scripture Jesus was saying that any one who has faith in him (his teachings) will be able to do greater things than he did. He is telling the people of the day that they simply have to have faith and believe in what he was attempting to teach them.
Jesus did not have any special powers. He often was trying to relay to the people that he was just like them, a descendent of man. He often times called himself, (NIV) “Son of Man”, It has also been translated as the (NCMM)“Son of Humankind”.
John 14:27 Jesus says, “Do not work for food that spoils, but for the food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. On him God the Father has placed his seal of approval.”
In this scripture Jesus is saying work to feed your soul not just your stomachs, the food that will feed you for eternity, which he (a descendent of man) will give. As the Son of Man Jesus performed many healings. Or did he? Was it Jesus or the people healing themselves?
In Matthew 9:21-22 the sick woman said, “If I only touch his cloak, I will be healed. Jesus turned and saw her. He said, Take heart, daughter, YOUR FAITH (my emphasis) has healed you.” And the woman was healed at that moment.
Matthew 9:28-30, “when he had gone indoors, the blind men came to him and he asked them, Do you believe that I am able to do this? Yes, Lord, they replied. Then he touched their eyes and said, According to YOUR FAITH (emphasis added) will it be done to you; and their site was restored.”
In both these instances Jesus stated according to their faith they were healed. He did not do it himself. The implication is that the peoples belief that healing could occur was impetus for the healing. He did not perform the miracle, the peoples belief did. Jesus understood something then that science is just now coming to grips that our bodies have all it needs to heal. Greg Braden a philosopher and scientist says that it is our feeling and emotions that access what we call God. He describes emotions and feeling as a biological technology.
We have all heard of someone who has heard of someone that was miraculously healed of a disease. In most of those instances the people believed that they could be healed and they had the faith that it could be done. Jesus knew this was possible. That is why he asked the blind men if they believed it could be done. He was attempting to teach us about the power we have to affect our world and our bodies. His teachings were not about him. It is very evident by science that people are able to heal themselves. Not just major diseases but the minor ailments to. There are specific ways to do this and Jesus taught this.
Mark 11:24 Jesus says, “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”
I have quoted this scripture before. It is paramount to us understand our world and how we can affect it. To say that Jesus did not heal anyone is not my attempt to demean him.I believe Jesus was a great teacher. It is simply me showing what I believe he wanted and that is for us to know our power, our magnificence! This also is not to say that you should stop taking medicines that your doctors have prescribed for you. I would however love for you to consider your power and start to think about who you really are. Who you really are is a soul having a human experience. Through your true self, your soul, you are tapped into the source from which we all come. You have the same power to create in this physical world that source did to create the universe.
In the (NIV)Bible Jesus said 14:20 “on that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.” Different interpretation of the same scripture in the (NCMM) says In that day you [apostles] will realize that I am in harmony with my Father, and you in harmony with me, and I in harmony with you [apostles].
The Father (source) is in us all. As a soul we can do great things. When we assume that we are only physical, we are limited in our thinking. Do not limit yourself with the doctrines that have been taught. God is not some grand being that sits on high looking over your shoulder. You reach source through prayer/meditation. When you do so you can connect and feel the awesome power! Jesus said you will be able to do greater things than he. We have to be brave enough to believe what he taught. Not just with illness but in many areas of life that he was teaching. Learn the universal principles or laws, not the man made doctrine. You have it with in you.
Are you a brave soul?

I completely agree with this! All Jesus did, just like it is explained in the video, was to see the person as already completely healthy, in their inherent state of perfection. He acted as a catalyst, compounding the strength of the faith, that it had already happened.
As you said, this is what He wanted us to know. It was not an external power performing the “miracle”, but our belief from within that we are whole, intrinsically perfect, extensions of Source. He merely helped those people in reaching this state of being.
Very powerful post!

Palma you said in a few words what would take me a whole post to convey.
I believe that we need to look more deeply at what many of the master teachers were trying to tell us. That is point in many of my post. Jesus, Buddha, Muhammed all had truths to convey to us. We are whole, we are walking miracles. We are beautifully and perfectly human.

The power to heal comes from the Holy Spirit. Jesus also raised people from their death. The dead person wouldn’t know what was going on so how could they have a part in it. Jesus was able to do these things through the power of the Holy Spirit, God His father. Just as we could do these things through the power of the Holy Spirit if we could keep our self sinless and had the faith in God to do these things through us.

hello Parish,
I agree with you that the power to heal comes from what you term the “Holy Spirit”. That Holy Spirit is a part of all of us. It is within all of us. Jesus said we will be able to do greater things than he. Jesus was flesh just like you and me. We have the same power now as he did then. Our beliefs keep us from realizing that power. You apparently believe that when the body dies all of you is gone and nothing else exist. Jesus understood the laws of the universe that we do not. He said all things are possible for he that believes. Jesus was able to facilitate the belief of his followers.
Sin is a man made concept. According to religious dogma it is impossible to be sinless. Yes, through what you term “God” all things are possible through that which is in us all. Thank you for you comment. Hope you will come back.

Sin is not a man made concept, religious dogma is man mad. Is it possible not to sin? YES! Sin starts in the mind, and them manifest itself in the flesh. We must first become conscious of our sin, after this, sin becomes a conscious choice. We must develop self discipline to have complete control of self, to keep focus on it at all times. This is possible through our relationship with the Holy Spirit. He makes our sin known to us, He put conviction in our heart and mind.

Parish, thank you for giving me the opportunity to examine my beliefs. I have to say that the laws of the universe state that anything that manifests originates in the mind first. I would agree that concept of sin originates in the mind. However, sin is concept that is wrought with feelings of being guilty for even thinking about an act that could manifest physically. Even your own terminology states that one must have conviction. If self discipline means we must deny the experience of the parts of us that is most human then I would have to say that the concept of sin and guilt is an erroneous one. The laws of the universe say that we attract into our experience that which we focus on. Jesus said the same thing when he was trying to teach these universal concepts in
Matt 6:22 he says the eye is the lamp of the body. if your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light. 23 But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness.
This is Jesus teaching a concept of keeping ones focus on positive and that is what will manifest in ones life. Sin and religious dogma are all man made. anything that has been written down is from people that get the concepts from tapping into what you term the “Holy Spirit.” Many of the religious teachers were attempting to tell us all that we have the same ability to get the message directly from the source, not interpreted by someone else. Sin and guilt are not intentions of the Holy Spirit. In my article I was imparting that Jesus was telling us that we have the ability to do just as he. We have the same power through the Holy spirit, higher self, God, Universe, Source or whatever dogmatic name you want to call it. We incarnated to experience being in flesh, only religion says we need to deny those experiences. That is a direct contradiction to a soul being in human form. That is what you are.

I have to agree with Reginald. If sin was not a man made concept, but coming from (an external) God… how is it possible then that a ‘human’ mother is capable of loving her child unconditionally, while the Omnipotent, All-Knowing God is not? That would create the paradox of human nature being superior to the divine, while God is busy condemning the sinners, and dividing into rows the sinners from the non-sinners, unable to love them as they are.
I believe there is a big difference between trying to control the Self with conviction focusing on avoiding sin (which cannot be, you cannot avoid the thought you are thinking, because the moment you shouldn’t think of it, you have already thought it), and developing a pure mind. That is, a mind that has risen above interference, distortions, and the illusions on the true nature of reality (as for example in Buddhism). There is no guilt there. There is only the bliss stemming from the Mind.

Beautifully said Palma! I love you analogy of the mother and child it is so true. When understanding the laws of the universe it really enlightens you on what man has come up with and all the contradictions and what is truth.

A thought my pop in your mind but you don’t have to entertain it, a thought can be cast away or replaced by another. If the thought is entertained or manifest in flesh then it is sin. How can ether of you say that sin is a man made concept when we deal with it and see it happening every day? Murder, Stealing, Greed, Spouses cheating on each other and so on…
We are born in to sin so we have a sinful nature.
Jesus tell us to deny self, this means to deny our sinful nature.
“The laws of the universe” The universal law is the Ten Commandments, when we break one we sin. You my friends are victims of New Age teachings. Much Love to you.

Parish, the eye of your body had decided to see the world as sinful and negative. While I do agree with you that man does murder, steal and cheat it is not the norm. To deny the body is to deny the very reason that we incarnated. If certain thought is a sin then no man woman or child will ever get to your heaven.
Parish you said “The universal law is the Ten Commandments, when we break one we sin.”
Exodus 20:2-3 says ” I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery, you shall have no other Gods before me.”
That is the very first commandment! Yet Christianity comes up with the concept of the trinity and says that Jesus is God in the flesh and worships him. I guess that means ALL that believe in Jesus Christ as lord and savior has technically sinned according to you Parish. The Trinity is a man made concept. Jesus did however say that we are just like him and that we are gods.
Exodus 20:13 says “You shall not murder.” The seventh commandment, yet Christian armies have killed in the name of Jesus for centuries. The United States army has been handing out bibles in Iraq and Afghanistan. It has been called an evangelical movement.
Parish you said “You my friends are victims of New Age teachings. Much Love to you.”
On the contrary my friend. I am not a victim at all. The victims are bound by illogical and contradictory dogma. I have freed my mind of the concept of sin and realize the most powerful force on earth is love and the recognition that we are all a part of the same source of creation. Thank you for your comments. Please come back again.
Parish my intent is not to defame Jesus but to highlight that he taught a belief in universality.

Reginald:
Jesus, who is resurrected from the dead did not raise himself. Jesus was raised from the dead by his Father in Heaven. Although Jesus was fully man and fully depended on the Father to heal — he did not find it “within himself.” The power came from outside himself, it came from his Father, it came as Jesus obeyed and submitted himself to his Father.
Jesus was also the “one and only son,” God in the form of man and he gave up his position as God (for a time) so as to oblige the debt of mankind (sin)on the cross as a man. All other religions are basically man reaching to God. True Christianity is God reaching to man — in the form of a man (Jesus).
There is a spititual realm and there is the One and Only God (Father, Son and Spirit – three persons – one nature) — and there are dark forces, demons, evil spirits, Satan. These dark forces would have you believe you are the master of your destiny, you are the God (or unrealized God) within yourself. When death overtakes us, there will only be one God that is able to resurrect us and give us everlasting life with Him. By placing our faith in Jesus, his sacrifice ushers us into the Father’s grace and unmerited mercy, to also recieve a new life (born again) here on earth. Seek the One and Only Almighty God and listen for His voice and you will find Him. Knock and the door will be opened to you. Call on the name of Jesus!

Mark, It is amazing to me how many Christians don’t realize the marketing and propaganda of the story of Jesus and the context of so many religious beliefs. The term “father” as used by Jesus is a figure of speech. Please see John 16:25 as Jesus explained to his baffled disciples. Jesus also taught that heaven and the Father is not outside of himself or anyone else for that matter. Please see Luke 17:20-21.
What the church has Marketed for centuries is not the message that Jesus taught. Words have been purposely changed and mistranslated in the bible to progogate a story that has been destructive the world over. The funny thing is that I know I can give all the facts but your beliefs will not allow you to investigate. I know what you know and was raised in the church. However, you don’t know what I know and have no inclination to investigate what I write and then will proceed to tell me to call on the name of a man that was just like you and me. He said as much.
Jesus was a master teacher. But his message has been skewed and lost by the religious.
Religious folks seem to think that ignorance is bliss. Investigate what I say and then come back and preach. Do not be ignorant of the history and teachings of Christianity then have the arrogance to chastise me on what I believe.
Thank you for taking the time to write what you believe. I sincerely appreciate it. But please investigate. Your truth is not mine.

Reginald, you might be interested in reading the book, “The Laughing Jesus.” It’s basicaly about how people misinterpret the teachings of Jesus and how if he were alive today he would be laughing.

Cindy,
If Jesus were alive today, I believe Christians would crucify him if it were still legal. The book sounds interesting, I will have to check it out.
