Being naïve and creating an awsome reality

By

Last week I had the pleasure of watching a great athletic performance by quarterback Tate Forcier of the Michigan Wolverines against the Indiana Hoosiers. This young man displayed an amazing ability to come back from adversity. I always admire athletes that can come back from adversity because it shows a certain character. Having been an athlete back in the dark ages I understand the subtleties of the competition and what an athlete goes through psychologically.

What is the psychology of greatness?

Because he believed he could

Because he believed he could

One of the things that has always interested me is what separates great athletes from the average when all things physically appear equal. But even more is when an athlete performs against seemingly huge odds. In this contest the young man Fortier is obviously a great athlete. But one of the things that stands out about him is that he is a freshman or first year quarterback in college football. Usually during rookie years it is a learning experience for the young players and they don’t always perform well. The game moves so fast compared to the level they were at a year before in high school. For the average freshman their games do not rise to a great level early on for many reasons. Usually it is experience. They have not seen what is coming at them on this new level. But every now and then someone like Tate Forcier rises above the crowd.

What I understand now that I did not before was how much the mentality plays into what an athlete does on the field. We create our reality. Tate Forcier created his great game. I can imagine that he visualizes himself doing well. He has to have confidence in his ability in the first place or he would not see himself doing well.

Metaphysically speaking

From a metaphysical perspective he has attracted his performance to him by sheer will power. He expects to do well and he does. He does not doubt his ability. Often times TV announcers will intimate that a young athlete is too naïve to not understand that he should not be doing so well. In a way they are probably right. In the mind of the young athlete he performed well in high school so it should be no different in college. Again it is his expectations.

Many times by the second year or late in the season of the first year the young athlete will drop off in performance. I believe probably because his expectations are changed by everyone around him telling him he is doing so well for a freshman or rookie. He starts to consider their comments and changes his expectations. He starts to feel the pressure and changes what he visualizes. He thinks to himself can he continue his great performance? Is he just lucky? All the doubts start to creep in and he then attracts different circumstances into his reality.

Lessons from the so called naïve

I believe there is a lesson to be learned from the psychological aspect of these young athletes or anyone that does not have much experience and has fantastic performances. The lesson is that we can create what we wish if we have the vision and faith that it will occur. The universal laws work in all aspects of life. Because of an unyielding belief in himself and his ability young Mr. Forcier had a magnificent performance. He will continue this performance as long as he believes he will, visualizes positive outcomes and through what we term naiveté expects that he can so well.

In life we will create for ourselves what we believe we deserve or based on our opinion of who we are. When we take responsibility for our lives and the circumstances in it we can then start to create the reality we wish to have. It takes a naïve person or one that is very brave. Since you are not naïve about life then you simply have to be brave and have the psychological fortitude to change your circumstance through will, determination and faith that it will happen. Just as the young so called naïve athlete, expect good things and good things happen. It is the law of the universe.
