What is reality and how does consciousness and dreams work in forming reality?
By Reginald MartinDreams have become a wonderful source of knowledge for me. They have taught me so much about my personality. I have found that even when I think I may have a certain belief changed my dreams will alert me that I still have work to do. Dreams are one of the best tools for self development. Dreams are you as a soul communicating to you in the physical. You as a soul are always honest with you in physicality. If you are not journaling your dreams and interpreting them then you should start. If self development is important to you then your dreams are the first place to start. There are other very important aspects of dreams that most are not aware of at this time. I will touch on them a bit here. I simply would like to give a glance into our entire being the part of us that is eternal. Not just the physical.
Physicality is a limited focus
For most of us our main sense of identity is with the physical body so it is difficult for us to imagine ourselves outside of it. However, our being or soul if you will has such vast potential that it can never be expressed fully through one personality. It may be very difficult for most humans to not want to be the center of the universe and believe that our physical existence in all there is. History has not been kind to people that challenged that egocentric position. However, the facts are that our being is vast and inhabits many more dimensions in our universe than we can comprehend. Physically we are aware of one particular stream of reality. We can call that stream physical reality. There are many more “realities” we are subconsciously aware. We can not physically touch those realities but our consciousness has the ability to explore and even create other realities. We do this so effortlessly that we don’t give it a second thought.
The ability to move into other realities is where our dreams come in. When we sleep our waking ego consciousness is at rest. At this time we can allow ourselves to interact in other dimensions of reality. These realities are in existence when we are awake. We simply will not allow our selves to focus our consciousness else where. However, there are many of us that can perceive and operate consciously in these realities. They use abilities that are natural to us all but don’t cultivate. We call these people psychic and/or gifted. While it is true that some may be more able to function in other areas better than the average person, we all have to ability to do so. These abilities are part of our true nature. Our dreams are just one of these areas.
Our true nature as a species
There are many different types of dreams. What we can physically remember of these dreams when we awake is dependent on the development of our consciousness. Some people are more gifted than others. There are many who say that don’t dream at all. This is one end of the spectrum in the understanding of consciousness. Everybody dreams or they would not be able to exist in this reality. We create this reality in the deepest reaches of our dream world. We actually choose the probabilities that we are going to manifest in physical reality from our dreams. Nostradamus is another spectrum of dreamer, he would be the equivalent of an Olympic athlete or a genius in dreaming. There are others than can remember the out of body experience when they travel in there dreams. Again these are gifted people. However, with training we can develop these abilities. It is natural to our species.
For the vast majority of us we can remember dreams when we wake up. These dreams are usually a translation of the actual event that was experienced in the dream world. At the time we remember our consciousness is drifting back into our physical housing. Back into the brain. The brain keeps our consciousness rooted in the physical. It takes the dream experience and translates it into something we can comprehend or make sense of physically. That means making it like our waking reality or as close to it as possible. Even still many of the concepts do not have a direct translation from the dream dimension. This is when many of us go to a dream dictionary and look up the meaning. This is the basic level of dreaming.
Our consciousness is uninhibited in our universe
Our conscious can go places in our universe that we will never be able to go physically. We are multidimensional beings and to discount the part of our existence that is not physical is erroneous. Our consciousness is verymobile. So much so that we take it for granted. We can slip into an alternate reality even when we are awake. It has been termed a “day dream.” Believe it or not in that alternate state of consciousness we have to ability to go into our physical body and heal aches and pains. We can imagine what the pained area looks like and visually imagine it gradually getting well. It does not matter if your visual is anatomically correct. What matters is the intent of your consciousness.
If we are to develop our entire being we must take off the limiting beliefs on what is real and what is make believe. In truth for our consciousness nothing is make believe. When we imagine we simply have shifted consciousness to another non-physical reality. Expand your mind and you expand your consciousness. You have to be brave enough to explore your being and be confident enough to trust your findings. No two experiences are the same. No two realties are the same.
Are you a brave soul?

Hi Reginald. True. The experiences in dreams are as real as this physical reality, they are just running on another stream, or frequency. That alternate reality is so real to our consciousness, that if we kept on dreaming and never wake up again, we wouldn’t notice. We would keep ‘living’ and experience different things on that alternate plane. We are definitely multidimensional beings!
I must be somewhat of an absent minded traveler, forgetting to take home my souvenirs… Unless the dream is really powerful, I tend to forget the specifics of what I did out there in the other dimensions, while the body was resting. I know I was really busy, though.
This makes me think that there may be dreams where we are just having ‘fun’ exploring around and creating realities. Other dreams are down to ‘business’ meetings, where we get messages from our Higher Self…

Hi Palma,
you said: “That alternate reality is so real to our consciousness, that if we kept on dreaming and never wake up again, we wouldn’t notice. We would keep ‘living’ and experience different things on that alternate plane. We are definitely multidimensional beings!”
You are absolutely correct here Palma! If anyone whats to know what is would be like when they will be no longer in the physical body (dead) simply watch your dreams. It is a time when our consciousness has detached from the physical. That world is occurring when we are awake but our consciousness is not turned in that direction.
You said: “This makes me think that there may be dreams where we are just having ‘fun’ exploring around and creating realities. Other dreams are down to ‘business’ meetings, where we get messages from our Higher Self…”
Palma you are right on again! I know that was your KNOWING self that made that deduction.
in that reality we are teachers, healers and any number of metaphysical occupations. We have friends in that reality that we have not met in physical reality. The dream reality is more true to our nature as souls than physical reality. What most of us remember when we awake is the translation of the alternate dream reality into the physical reality we understand. Many things we do in that reality are either not translatable to physical reality or not believable by our ego self. So we kinda change the names to protect the innocent when we remember upon awakening.
